How the winner was decided — and the envelope twist that wasn't

America voted through the Love Island USA app, and Trinity and Bryce took the most votes. In the finale, each couple went on a last date in Fiji and delivered declarations of love before Ariana Madix revealed the rankings, from fourth place up to the winners.

One tradition didn't survive the night. In past seasons, the winning couple faced a trust test: two envelopes, one holding $100,000, and the islander who drew the money deciding whether to split it. This year Madix simply congratulated Trinity and Bryce — no envelopes appeared, the couple split the prize, and fans immediately noticed the missing moment. The show didn't respond to press requests for comment on why the twist was dropped.

Who just missed the finale

The last cut came on July 10, when America's vote dumped two couples on Day 30: KC Chandler with Tierra 'Titi' Davis, and Kenzie Annis with Dylan Wrona. KC and Titi's exit stung the most for fans — they'd just made things official as boyfriend and girlfriend after the season's most dramatic recoupling. The finale recap — and when the reunion airs

The finale followed the format fans know: final dates, declarations from all four couples, and Madix walking the rankings up from fourth place. Kayda and Zach went first, then Melanie and Sincere, leaving Aniya and Carl as runners-up before Trinity and Bryce were crowned. Trinity and Bryce had been heavy favorites for weeks, and the villa's steadiest couple delivered.
